For my first post in this blog, I am going to write about something that should have been done a long time ago: define the word inception. Ever since the movie Inception came out, people somehow got the idea that the word inception means something inside another of those somethings, inside another of those somethings, and so on. This belief is completely and 100% false. The word inception means the beginning of something or the start of something. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as "an act, process, or instance of beginning." This is the real definition. That means that the picture below does not mean inception.
"This is Photoshop Inception. They say when you reach limbo you find yourself in an HDR program. " Image Credit: http://i1.wp.com/www.petapixel.com/assets/uploads/2011/06/psinception.jpg |

The irony of this picture is so amazing. First of all, that is NOT inception. Second, that is an actual version of a Russian Matryoshka Doll (which was given that name and not "inception" for a reason). And third, for arguments sake, lets pretend that is an original Matryoshka doll. Then one could say that it was the inception of the Matryoshka doll.
The reason the 2010 film was given the name "Inception" is not because there were layered dreams within dreams, but because the whole point of the movie was to plant an idea in a persons mind. It's the idea of inception in that person's mind that gave the movie its title—the start of an idea, the inception of an idea—Inception. People of the internet, please look up words before wrongfully using them.
